Hello everyone, I am currently planning my new living concept with Ikea Besta furniture and have come across the topic of cable management. Since these models are primarily designed for storage, I haven’t yet found a smart solution for neatly and invisibly routing all the cables for TV, hi-fi, gaming consoles, and routers. Are there any proven tips or tricks for safely and aesthetically managing cables within BESTA furniture without ending up with a tangled mess behind the unit or making access to connections difficult? I would appreciate practical experiences or recommendations for suitable cable ducts, feed-throughs, or other solutions.

Does anyone have experience with using power strips inside BESTA modules along with cable management?

Of course, this is the classic situation for cable clutter behind furniture: with power strips inside the modules, everyone thinks it will be an easy cleanup project – but in the end, they all end up plugging in a mess of cables again.

The interesting part is that IKEA did not design these modules for hidden electrical installations. So, either you make compromises and rely on external planning, or you become a cable management expert with innovative solutions. But especially with power strips in BESTA units, the effort is high: ventilation, access, safety – it all adds up quickly.

My advice: better have clear cable routing on the outside of the furniture and avoid hiding power strips inside. You’ll appreciate it when you need to quickly swap a device.
