Hello everyone, I am facing the challenge of assembling several IKEA Hemnes furniture pieces in an apartment with slightly uneven floors. Specifically, I am wondering if there are any tips or proven methods to set up the furniture so that it remains stable and secure without wobbling or getting damaged. I am particularly interested in how to compensate for floor unevenness without using permanently visible aids, and whether the furniture pads provided by IKEA are sufficient for this purpose or if special accessories are recommended. Does anyone have experience assembling Hemnes furniture on uneven floors and can offer helpful advice?

For more significant floor unevenness, you can use so-called furniture platforms or special adjustable feet that can be set to different heights.

Thank you very much for the clear advice! I’m considering whether I should actually retrofit adjustable feet. Does anyone perhaps know specific sources or product recommendations for something like this that works well with Hemnes legs?

I’m also interested in whether there might be DIY solutions that are easy to implement without significantly affecting the furniture’s appearance?

The plugs supplied by IKEA are only intended for minimal unevenness and are not sufficient for moderate or more severe floor irregularities.

That’s exactly the impression I’ve had so far. I’m reluctant to spoil the original look with large supports underneath, but stability is very important to me.

Hey, I completely understand your challenge! My floor was also slightly uneven, and I simply used small rubber furniture shims that can be placed under the feet of the HEMNES. They are hardly visible and hold really well, so the furniture now stands rock solid and doesn’t wobble at all! I think this is an inexpensive and quick solution that really works!

Why settle for small fixes? If you want a truly level base, you should invest in high-quality, height-adjustable furniture glides or even build custom substructures yourself.

Absolutely, but sometimes a small, pragmatic solution that works quickly and doesn’t require much effort is enough. Good luck with your project!
