Hello everyone,

I am currently facing a challenge with assembling the IKEA Hemnes wardrobe in my apartment. Unfortunately, the floor is not completely level—there are slight uneven areas that become noticeable when setting up the wardrobe. My question is: Are there any proven and practical tips or methods to securely and stably install the Hemnes wardrobe on uneven floors? I am open to all suggestions, from simple adjustments to special materials or tools that have proven effective. Stability and preventing wobbling are especially important to me, as the wardrobe is quite large.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello,

the issue with uneven floors is common with IKEA furniture, especially with larger models like HEMNES. I recommend the following approach for secure assembly:

- First, check the floor at the installation area with a spirit level to identify any uneven spots.
- Use rubber feet or adjustable furniture feet that can be screwed onto the original feet. These allow height adjustment by a few millimeters.
- Alternatively, small felt or rubber pads can be used to compensate for minor differences if the unevenness is slight.
- For more significant floor unevenness, a thin, stable floorboard can be useful as a base for the cabinet.
- The cabinet should always be anchored to the wall to minimize the risk of tipping.

These methods have all been tested and usually prevent rattling or wobbling effectively.

Hi,

I always use adjustable furniture glides for my HEMNES. This allows me to compensate for any unevenness and ensures the cabinet stands firmly. Don’t forget to secure it to the wall.

Hello nausbo,

I can definitely understand how annoying a wobbly cabinet can be. I had the same issue when I assembled a HEMNES. What helped me was placing small wooden shims under the feet to level the floor. I used felt-covered wood pads to avoid damaging the floor surface. This stopped the wobbling, and I felt much more secure.

I understand that you want the cabinet to be stable, especially if there are young children or pets in the household. Sometimes floors aren’t perfectly even, but with a few tricks, you can fix it. Have you tried carefully feeling the floor at different points to identify the biggest uneven spots? That helps a lot.

Hey nausbo and everyone else!

I think this topic is great because I recently assembled a HEMNES on a slightly uneven wooden floor. My tip: use adjustable furniture pads that you screw under the cabinet legs – this makes a huge difference! It not only stabilizes the unit but also looks nice if you finish it off with felt pads.

Wall mounting is also important – I didn’t skimp on it and screwed the brackets in really firmly. That way, the cabinet feels completely secure with no more wobbling! So: keep at it, you can do it!

By the way, if the floor is very uneven, I always place a thin wooden board underneath to level the cabinet completely. You can’t see it, and it provides solid support. Good luck to you all! 😄
