Hello everyone,

I am currently planning to purchase some furniture from the Ikea Hemnes series but am unsure if there are any building-related restrictions I should be aware of before buying. Specifically, I am interested in aspects such as the maximum load capacity of the shelves and cabinets, the requirements for wall mounting, and any particular considerations regarding ceiling heights or door opening dimensions. It would also be important to know if there are any structural limitations during assembly or installation that might cause issues in small or unusual rooms. Does anyone have practical experience or in-depth knowledge that could help me avoid buying mistakes or installation problems?

A small addition: The load limits are specified in the installation manual. These should not be exceeded, especially for the shelves. Otherwise, there are no hidden structural restrictions.

I noticed that the surface finish of the Hemnes series can be quite sensitive. The wood reacts to moisture, so it may cause issues in damp rooms. It is also advisable to retighten the screws after some time to ensure stability.

Finally, I would add that the HEMNES series is not designed for extremely small recesses or unusual room shapes. Although many combinations are possible due to the modular design, it is essential to check all relevant measurements on site before purchasing. There are no hidden building physics constraints, but the spatial conditions must be carefully matched to the furniture dimensions to ensure easy installation and use.
