Hello everyone, I am planning to assemble several IKEA Platsa cabinets with the corresponding doors, but I have some practical questions regarding the installation of these doors. Are there any specific tips or tricks to keep in mind when attaching the Platsa doors to achieve a clean, even appearance without misalignment or sagging? I have read that the doors are relatively heavy and the hinges need to be well adjusted – but what is the best way to do this, especially when installing multiple doors side by side? Are there any tools or aids that can make the process easier? I look forward to your experiences and recommendations!
The doors of Platsa feature a relatively complex hinge and installation system designed for individual adjustments. Basically, I recommend the following approach: - Ensure that the cabinet is perfectly vertical and horizontal. Any deviation will affect the door function. - Install the hinges according to the instructions but do not fully tighten them yet. - Use a compass or a spirit level to check the gaps around the door; they should be even on all sides. - Regularly close the door for testing to make sure it closes smoothly without sticking. - For multiple doors side by side, it is helpful to hang the doors with some space between them initially and then gradually adjust them closer together. Avoid fully tightening the screws before all adjustments are completed. In terms of tools, I recommend a cordless screwdriver with adjustable torque to prevent over-tightening.

Always work from the middle outward when multiple doors are side by side to achieve an even gap. That really helps me a lot, thanks! One more question: Do you have any experience with the load capacity of the hinges on PLATSA doors? I’m worried that the heavy wooden doors might sag over time with frequent use. Should they be adjusted regularly, or are there alternative hinges available for long-lasting stability?

Do you have any experience with the load capacity of the hinges on PLATSA doors? From my side, a clear yes – I was also concerned that the doors might sag due to their weight. Occasionally, they needed slight adjustments, but this was less about durability and more about personal preference. The hinges are sturdy, and IKEA has likely accounted for the weight adequately. It is important to regularly check all the screws. If you stay on top of it, you can keep the doors stable.

Should you readjust, or are there alternative hinges for lasting stability?I’d put it this way: readjusting is like a ritual among furniture assemblers – just part of the process. 😉 I’m not aware of interchangeable hinges for the PLATSA, but with a bit of patience, it’s easily manageable. And on the next Prime Day, you can grab replacement hinges if needed.
