We are currently planning our single-family house with a basement, totaling 120 sqm (1292 sq ft), and we are a bit shocked by the structural engineers’ quotes. The offers we received ranged from 10,000 euros to 20,000 euros. Our architect said the costs are so high because all companies are extremely busy at the moment. Do you think these costs are reasonable?

We paid about 3,000 euros for our structural engineer. Our house has a basement and a flat roof, but it’s larger than yours. If you want, I can share the contact with you.
He is also quite fast; he had the foundation plan ready after just one week since we were somewhat pressed for time.

Unfortunately, our architect discouraged us a bit by saying that at the moment it’s only possible to find a structural engineer through personal connections, but we will simply try looking beyond the Karlsruhe area. With structural engineers, you’re not that tied to a specific location, right?
