just before placing the order, a thought occurred to me: Are the drilling holes for the Minifix the same in Faktum and Metod? I am considering connecting the ceiling/floor of Faktum with Metod cabinet sides.

It only makes sense if you need a 50cm (20 inch) or 30cm (12 inch) cabinet. The only issues then are with the front panel. If you use it without a front, it’s easier to shorten a Metod cabinet in width and drill new holes. You can use the cut-off piece as a template by placing it on top and drilling through it. What do you mean by Minifix?
You would first need to glue dowel pieces into the middle and rear holes on the side panels. The front hole should fit as is. After that, drill new holes for dowels and screws. As the Ikea expert already mentioned, you are missing 10mm (0.4 inch) in depth. The Pax back panel would no longer sit flush all around due to the deeper side panels.
Best regards
