Hello everyone,

I need to replace the distribution panel.
A friend of mine will install the incoming cables. The hired electrician will basically only handle the circuit breaker panel.
The electrician gave me the following quote:

Panel equipped with:
- 3 RCDs 40 A / 0.03 A
- 1 RCD 25 A / 0.03 A
- 40 miniature circuit breakers 16 A
- 1 load shedding relay
- 2 terminal blocks
- 4 neutral terminals
- 1 main switch
complete with wiring materials

at a net price of €1,275

He told me that this corresponds exactly to his purchase cost and that I only have to pay the labor charges (€38 per hour), estimated for 2-3 days.

I’m not familiar with the pricing here. Is this offer reasonable?

Many thanks and best regards!

Is his labor cost included in the price? Will your existing cabinet be used, or will a new one be installed as well?

No, his labor is not included in that price. This is the cost for the new cabinet plus all the circuit breakers and related components. He stated that he passes the material cost on to me at cost price. €1,275 (net) €1,517 (gross)

The old cabinet will be completely removed. I will pay separately for the labor.

So with a new cabinet. Then the price is reasonable, if not very good.

I also find the hourly wage absolutely fair.
