ᐅ Are special adhesive and primer really necessary for 3D wall panels?

SabastianW852 Feb 2016 23:00I want to install 3D wall panels on a wall in my house. The manufacturer recommends a very expensive special adhesive (of course) and the also costly primer. Does anyone have experience with these panels? Can I possibly use alternative products for installation?

The primer primarily serves to "seal" the panels, aiming to largely prevent any movement or warping of the boards. You have probably already researched the preparation, application, priming, and final coating.
How do you plan to install the panels? With or without joints?
