ᐅ Is it possible to retrofit soft-close mechanisms to Ikea Brimnes furniture?

Hello everyone,
I have a question regarding my Ikea Brimnes bed frame: Is there a way to retrofit soft-close mechanisms on this model? I’m referring to the drawers underneath the bed, which are usually quite noisy when closing.
I don’t want to replace the drawers entirely but rather add a mechanism that prevents slamming and allows for smooth closing. I’m especially interested in whether there are compatible dampers or special adapters that can be discreetly installed and work well with the existing drawer slides.
Does anyone have practical experience or maybe a guide on if and how this can be done with the Brimnes? Thanks in advance for any help!

Soft-close mechanisms are not standard on Brimnes drawers. You can only retrofit them if you completely replace the drawer slides. This is exactly the point: the market expects us to either replace furniture entirely or put up with noisy parts. Ikea’s strategy of offering few spare parts for their mass-produced items, which can be easily retrofitted, is deliberate.

I installed small dampers from a hardware store that clip onto the side. I didn’t want to do more work. It works fairly well, even though they are visible. That is precisely the issue: the problem can be solved, but usually only with a somewhat acceptable compromise.
If you truly value soft-close functionality, you should either buy different furniture or invest in high quality – it costs more but includes the appropriate system as standard.
The idea that you can simply upgrade Brimnes easily is rather naive. It’s possible, but the effort is significant and the result rarely looks convincing.
