Hello. We are supposed to get PVC drain pipes in the bathrooms. Are these still considered up-to-date nowadays, or are there more durable drain pipe options?

The red ones are for exterior use and are not hot water resistant. The gray ones are for interior use and are hot water resistant. The gray ones are made of polypropylene, the red ones of polyvinyl chloride. There are no gold-plated versions. Karsten

In theory, many still offer soundproofed versions. However, this is less of a concern in single-family home construction. The standard gray version is completely sufficient.

It is important to have a sound-decoupled installation.

Hello,

For vertical drain pipes, especially when they run through rooms other than utility or technical rooms, this can be a concern.

That is rather less common... mostly where it splashes back down.

But downpipes rarely run through bedrooms. In those cases, sound-isolated installation is usually sufficient.

I only know Silent Pro or similar systems from very specialized buildings, like hospitals or hotels.
