I am currently considering whether IKEA Pax wardrobes are a suitable storage solution for a guest room. On one hand, I wonder if their maximum flexibility in floor plans and compartment options really provides a genuine advantage compared to more affordable or more specialized wardrobes. On the other hand, space in my guest room is quite limited, so I would like to know if the dimensions and design of the Pax wardrobes work well in small rooms or if they tend to appear bulky.

I am also interested in how durable the wardrobes are in terms of occasional use—for example, I plan to store seasonal bedding and a few clothes that guests might need. Additionally, I would appreciate experiences with assembly and the optional interior fittings, as I am not yet entirely clear on the variety of wardrobe types and features.

So, are Pax wardrobes a sensible and practical solution for a guest room? Perhaps someone can share real experiences or offer alternative suggestions that provide similar benefits but work better in smaller spaces?

I can confirm the points made by previous contributors and add from my own experience:

- Pax is a good choice for a guest room if you value organization and occasionally need variable storage capacity.
- Pay attention to the exact dimensions so the wardrobe doesn’t overpower the room. For very small rooms, choose a maximum depth of 50cm (20 inches).
- The interior fittings are versatile; it’s worth assessing your exact requirements for components (drawers, hanging rods, shelves) before purchase.
- I recommend glass-fronted doors only for spacious rooms, as they add visual depth.
- For assembly: it’s easier with two people, and you should allow at least 2 to 3 hours.

Conclusion: Pax is not a bad choice, but careful planning is essential.

Pax is strong enough when assembled correctly. I have had it in the guest room for two years and am satisfied. It doesn’t feel too bulky to me because I combined the narrow units.

Recommendation: Plan the storage space carefully in advance and especially use drawers for smaller items. They keep things most organized.
