ᐅ Are painting costs per square meter reasonable?

Hello everyone,

Today I received a quote for painting work in a new build in the Rhein-Erft district and would like to discuss whether the prices are reasonable. Alternative quotes are on the way, but I would still like to hear your opinion.

These are gross prices per square meter:

Sanding: 2.90
Priming: 1.50
Supplying painting fleece and wallpapering walls: 12.20
Painting: 6.20

So, a total of €22.80 per square meter (roughly 11 square feet) of wall and ceiling surface.

Do you think these prices are reasonable?

I cannot judge whether the prices are reasonable, as in the house my parents built, a painter’s company has never done any work on or in the house.

However, looking at the prices you posted, I am glad that I have always trusted myself to do this work and therefore do it myself, saving thousands of euros.

Good morning, that only helps to a limited extent, of course. I suppose everyone has to decide that for themselves. If I calculate the effort for an entire house, doing it yourself probably isn’t worth it. Especially if you have to look at what you did for years afterward. I’d rather have it done professionally once.

Whether your own labor is cheaper than a painter’s has to be judged individually. Especially when you also consider the quality.
