Hello,

we are currently building a semi-detached house.

We have now reached the stage of choosing the interior doors.

The standard includes white lacquered doors with a hollow core from the company Prüm.

I am not very familiar with doors.
Therefore, I wanted to ask if these interior doors are sufficient in terms of durability and sound insulation?

Is this the usual standard, or should the interior doors have any specific features?

Setting design aside for now.

We do not have a mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery.

Although it wasn’t asked, you should take some time to look into mechanical ventilation with heat recovery.

We are building with a developer, and they do not offer controlled residential ventilation, so we still need to ventilate conventionally by opening windows.

Is there anything else we should consider regarding the interior doors?

Are Prüm doors completely sufficient in terms of quality?

Possibly rounded edges and a different design.

For the bathrooms, we want to have a WC lock installed.

They are now using a turn lock on the inside of the bathroom doors. I think this is also for safety reasons. In case of illness, it is easier to open the door from the outside.

The company installing our doors offers the following door models (all with the same design):

Prym Royal PY-251 or PY-451 (not sure what the difference is)
Dextüra Linea AL 14
HGM White Line Type 101e
Jeldwen Lombardo 2810-3

What do you think about these doors or manufacturers?
Do you know if their prices are all close to each other or if one manufacturer is significantly more expensive (like the Ferrari of doors)?

All doors should have a hollow-core particleboard core.

I want to prepare for the door selection appointment and get your opinions beforehand, rather than just being influenced by the salespeople.

I’m also not a door expert or professional, but I know the latter brand from a commercial building. They seem to be good to high quality (I don’t know the exact model designation).
I would proceed as follows: research manufacturers/models and study the product datasheets (possibly create a small table to compare features/characteristics, etc.), then of course note prices and possible extras. This will lead to a favorite that might be confirmed during the selection process. You should be able to evaluate the doors with both your eyes and hands.

The interior door supplier initially advised us by phone (on-site appointment next week) to consider the Dextüra doors because they have a special paint that makes the doors more durable, but they are high gloss (which doesn’t bother us). Most doors are rather matte.

Has anyone had experience with white lacquered doors from Dextüra?
