Hello.

Our plumber referred us to the bathroom showroom, where we put together everything we needed.
Now, looking at the price list and searching online, we see huge price differences.

For example, the toilet with seat from the showroom costs about 700 euros, while on Amazon it’s roughly half that price.

So naturally, we wonder why we shouldn’t just order online, since the markup from the bathroom showroom seems quite extreme—twice the price just feels like too much?!?

What are your experiences with this?

Thank you.

Is the search function not working?
Sanitary question: why so expensive, the umpteenth time. Case closed.

I’d say: just buy it from Amazon, but don’t expect your tradesperson to install it, nor that any warranty will apply or that you can return it free of charge.
If you can do everything yourself: websites like Heimwerker.de or MyHammer make it possible. Later, after moving in, you’ll find current discussions through the search such as “shower moves,” “silicone joints cracked, who is responsible,” or “why does my house smell so strange.”
Whether you actually saved money, you can tell us in 5 years [emoji4]

Don’t be mad at me: there are plenty here who see it like you and don’t trust unskilled tradespeople but still expect everything from them [emoji6]

Let's be honest, installing a toilet and a washbasin is not rocket science. There is plenty of complaining about kitchen prices, but the three-tier pricing model for plumbing is considered acceptable. It's the same principle, after all.

OT: And why are kitchen appliances from the kitchen retailer more expensive than online? It's strange that these "tradespeople" apparently have no right to charge double.

I no longer follow the kitchen debates here.
