Hello everyone, I am planning to buy some furniture from the Ikea Brimnes series but would like to know beforehand how practical these pieces are when it comes to disassembly and reassembly. Specifically, I am interested in whether the furniture can be taken apart easily without risking damage, and if putting it back together is feasible for non-professionals. Are there any special tips or tools that you should definitely have on hand? This mainly concerns wardrobes and dressers. I would appreciate detailed experiences, especially from those who may have already disassembled and reassembled these pieces for a move.

BRIMNES furniture is generally easy to disassemble. Usually, an Allen key included in the delivery is sufficient. Simply loosen the screws and carefully separate the parts without using force. Follow the instructions when reassembling. During transport, the parts should be well protected to prevent scratches.

Regarding the disassembly and reassembly of Ikea BRIMNES furniture: This furniture series uses standardized connectors such as dowels, biscuits (Lamello), and Allen screws, which simplifies disassembly and allows multiple reassemblies. It is important to work carefully during disassembly and avoid overtightening screws to prevent damaging the material or stripping the threads. Recommendations:

- Use the Allen key from the assembly kit
- Remove and store screws systematically during disassembly
- Gently separate wooden panels to avoid surface damage
- After reassembling, check all connections to ensure they are tight

With normal care, disassembly and subsequent reassembly can be done without issues, even by inexperienced users. Special tools are generally not necessary, although an additional ratchet can make screwing easier.

I would like to add that maintaining the connection points during disassembly is very helpful. Usually, carefully loosening the screws with the included Allen key is enough, but I recommend avoiding damage to small plastic sleeves or dowels whenever possible, as they are crucial for stability in BRIMNES. Even though some people perceive the furniture as ‘cheap,’ patience is especially important when taking it apart and putting it back together.

Pay close attention to the instructions when reassembling.

Exactly, don’t lose the instructions—they are very detailed for BRIMNES and incredibly helpful. You quickly learn which parts go where. This becomes especially important if you need to assemble and disassemble the furniture multiple times, such as when moving. My tip: Keep all screws and small parts in labeled bags. If you need more information or feel uncertain about specific models, feel free to ask.
