Hello everyone,

we are currently building a solid structure, and the construction is almost complete, with the final inspection coming up. However, I have increasingly noticed damp spots on the brickwork (see picture). They are less visible on dry days but still appear even when it’s not raining.

What could this be? Is it possibly normal?

Thanks for any tips and your answers.

Best regards

Winter is outside... moisture from the air simply condenses on the walls of the house...

You’ll be familiar with this from cars... if you don’t have an engine heater and need to leave the house in the morning, you have to scrape the windows to remove this moisture...

Is this only on the weather-exposed side or everywhere? Do the stains disappear if it has been sunny and windy for just one day?

The stains are all over the house. Sometimes the stains disappear with sun and wind. However, they have also appeared in summer, not just now during the cold season.

Below the window, the windowsill plus 2-3 rows of bricks underneath is normal (since the water hitting the window needs somewhere to go).
In the picture, it looks strange and gives the impression that water is collecting in that corner and cannot drain properly.
Do you have an inspector for the final approval?

In my fully faced brick house (also with dark bricks), something like this has not occurred so far (not even under the windows, where the bricks below the windows are slightly angled and protrude so that water drips off). Therefore, I would say that this is not normal, but I only have this one house, so maybe there are different construction methods.
