Hello,
I received a .pln file from Archicad Start 14 (from 2011) and wanted to export some views from it. I asked an acquaintance who is studying civil engineering and has a licensed Archicad 26 EDU version to help. Unfortunately, the version 14 file cannot be opened with the 26 EDU version. I have been searching extensively online without success on how to do this. There are converters for versions newer than 10 to version 10, but nothing beyond that.
Could someone here possibly help or suggest a solution?

According to the ArchiCAD website, all versions from 10 onward should be able to read files down to version 8.1.
When saving files, as mentioned before, compatibility usually extends only one or two versions back.
I have not experienced such a large version gap myself. So far, opening files has generally worked well—although there have sometimes been issues with the libraries. These often change quite a bit from one version to another!
Therefore, I can imagine that the student version might be limited in this regard. Alternatively, the file could be corrupted.
