Hello everyone,
I have a quick question regarding the estimation of drywall panels to be installed on the walls inside a house.
What would you roughly estimate the costs to be from a drywall contractor for 608 sqm (6543 sq ft) / a standard gable roof / 1.5 stories, where only the ceiling of the upper floor needs to be covered with gypsum boards (the attic does not get any panels at all and the ground floor is already included in the 608 sqm)?
A) Material
B) Labor costs
Or the total costs, in case there is no separation between material and labor costs and everything is included in a single price for the entire square meter area.
Regards
Hankovic

And of course, then the values make sense.

Hello
I had to step away for a moment.
It is correct that it is a prefabricated house. All the walls already have OSB boards installed, and the ceiling of the upper floor (ONLY THIS CEILING is relevant).
So, that would be about 600 sqm (6,458 sq ft), and to return to the original question: roughly how much would it cost if a company were to handle the installation of the boards?
I’m asking out of interest (which is a legitimate question in a construction forum), and I understand regional differences exist. But I just want a rough estimate, not: “It depends on ..., and costs X.xx EUR.” The question is whether it’s closer to 2,000 EUR or more like 7,000 EUR, since most of the labor cost will probably be for the 600 sqm (6,458 sq ft), or if there are standard rates such as “X EUR per sqm installed (whether wall or ceiling).”
In my initial description, I added so much detail about the ceiling and the gable roof because these might affect the cost (gable roof is different from flat roof).
I’m really not asking about the last 500–700 EUR, just rough estimates or perhaps personal experiences on what homeowners have been charged for this by drywall or interior finishing contractors.
Thanks in advance, and enjoy the rest of your Sunday.
Best regards
Hankovic

Sebastian7929 May 2016 19:34I don’t understand anymore – so it’s the ceiling after all, but how do you end up with 600 sqm (6458 sq ft)???
Haven’t you requested a single quote beforehand?

All walls of the 1.5-story house and only the ceiling of the upper floor. Alternatively, you could say everything inside except the ceiling of the ground floor. The knee wall on the upper floor is about 1.20m (4 feet), so probably higher than in a typical standard 1.5-story house.
We want to do it ourselves, but if it doesn’t fit with our jobs, we have the budget to have it done professionally.
For this reason, I am asking for general approximate values. As you already said, it’s not possible to calculate this exactly anyway.
What did you pay for your 120sqm (1,292 sq ft) or what amount were you able to count as in-kind work or estimate?
