Hello,

I would like to install the satellite dish on our roof. Now I see that I cannot attach the rafter bracket directly to the rafter because there is a roofing underlay and, above that, a batten for securing it.

If I were to attach the rafter bracket below the rafter, I would have to run the mast through the roofing underlay, which would likely cause condensation.

Do you have any ideas on how I can mount the mast?

Thank you

Where is the problem? Rafter brackets are installed daily on the same types of roofs as yours. You just need to cut the battens to the right size.

I have thought about that as well. However, the rafter bracket has an angled profile, and I’m not sure if the underlay ceiling can be tensioned that tightly.

But I just noticed that there are also rafter brackets with a flat profile. In that case, the issue is basically resolved.

@knock88 could you make one of those? I find it interesting...

I always recommend the Hercules. (This is not intended as an advertisement) However, I have had the best experience with it.

I can only agree. I installed it two weeks ago, and the mast feels extremely stable. It is more likely that the roof fails than the mast bends.
