Hello,
I have a question. They forgot to install a satellite antenna outlet in one of the rooms. Unfortunately, everything has already been plastered and painted, so it’s a bit late now.
The electrician is offering me a receiver as "compensation," which would allow me to connect to the satellite dish via the electrical wiring. I’m not entirely comfortable with this solution.
Such a receiver can break down (usually just after the warranty expires), and then I would have to buy a new one. Is it very complicated to install a proper outlet afterwards? There is a satellite antenna outlet on the opposite wall in the living room.
Thank you very much for your help.
Best regards,
Doris

I am willing to compromise on that, but this is supposed to be our TV room. Since I didn’t have the exact number of outlets in mind at this spot, I didn’t really notice that the antenna socket was missing. Only now, after the sockets have been installed, did it become clear. Annoying. There is now a multi-utility socket and two outlets. Thanks and best regards, Doris

Honestly, I wonder if you’re just being stubborn or if there was a second immaculate conception… you know, about walking on water ;-)

Bieber08158 Dec 2015 20:38The offer to provide a receiver seems to me — as a layperson from a distance — like a bad joke. The appropriate response should be to request a correction; without correction, no approval. Then the electrician is welcome to come up with a new proposal that could work as a compromise (TV room?).
Why be stubborn? A satellite connection was ordered but not delivered. This can still be corrected, so the electrician should take care of it.
If the bricklayers mess up, or the drywall installers, then they are obviously supposed to reseal the vapor barrier... nobody complains about that... no, come on, just give me a credit of 50 euros and let it go...

Bauexperte8 Dec 2015 20:51The effort and the outcome are completely disproportionate. When masons or drywall installers make mistakes, these usually become apparent during the structural phase; that’s a significant difference.

It is usually noticeable during the shell construction phaseWell, that is quite a bold statement...
We simply see it differently... the electrician has to be creative and come up with a solution... but well, if someone can’t even read the plans...
There are definitely options and ways to handle this... and the electrician just wants to get off the hook by offering the easiest solution for themselves (simply leaving the homeowner with the headaches).
The effort involved is quite manageable, and the result would be significant... especially since it was supposed to be a media room.
