Hello everyone,

I hope this is the right section – I have the following issue:
I have an angled shut-off valve with a 3/4 inch thread for the dishwasher. Due to limited space, I can’t install the water stop directly under it.

-> Is it allowed to install a 3/4 inch angled fitting (e.g., 45°) onto the valve and then attach the Aquastop to that? I assume I would need to seal the angled fitting with Teflon tape, right? Basically, this is no different from the valve mounted directly on the wall plate, which also has only a threaded connection and is constantly under pressure…

-> Alternatively, I could buy a braided hose as an extension. However, I’m a bit more concerned about its long-term durability. Also, the original Miele hose costs about 100 euros (approx. $110). Cheaper options are available, but in case of damage, insurance might become an issue...

What would you recommend? What is allowed? Which solution avoids any problems with the insurance?

Best regards & thanks,
Marco

Well, the Aquastop only prevents water flow from the connection point onward...

But what happens if the angle valve itself fails or starts leaking? Then the Aquastop won’t help anymore.

I would screw on an elbow fitting and seal it properly...

As a backup, you could also place a water leak detector there...

I see it the same way. The angle valve is basically the valve itself.

I’m only interested in what is approved – or what an insurance company would consider acceptable.

Regarding flexible hoses: every faucet is connected with these hoses that don’t have a water stop either. Nobody worries about those, right? They can break just the same. The stress on them is the same.

Everything must be done professionally, but what is considered professional can be a matter of debate. Therefore, it is not possible to give a definitive answer to your question.

Hello

Please note that most water stops need to be installed vertically.
