ᐅ American Timber Frame House – Which Company to Choose?

we would like to build an American-style timber house. I am currently searching online for suppliers and have come across two companies. Has anyone here had experience with any companies and could possibly offer some advice?

I am undecided about which company to choose and would appreciate hearing personal opinions from people who have already been in contact with companies or, even better, have already built a house.

Before you dive headfirst into your American wooden house project and fall in love with it, it’s best to first check with the local building authority whether you will get approval.

This for two reasons:
1. There are residential zones where certain types of wooden houses (e.g. log cabin style) are not allowed. I can’t say to what extent this applies to other types of wooden houses.
2. Some wooden houses might not meet current insulation regulations. This note is based on a conversation my colleague (a wooden house enthusiast) once had – I can’t confirm if it really applies.

Make sure to clarify these points regarding your desired house in advance, so you don’t invest a lot of effort into planning only to be disappointed later.

Thanks for the tips; we’ve already spoken with the building department. A wooden house is not an issue. Regarding the insulation regulations, I still need to check. However, I thought that companies specializing in American wooden houses are familiar with those requirements and plan and build accordingly to comply with the regulations.
