My wife and I have been looking for a house builder who can realize our house in the American style (New England style) for some time.
Many prefab home builders say they can build in this style, but when we ask for reference houses, their examples are quite limited.
So, the question is whether anyone can recommend a house builder? Preferably from the southern region.
We were in contact with Greenville, but decided against them due to their unusual upfront planning fees and contract structure.
We really liked Rörvikshus, but unfortunately, it is too expensive for us. Does anyone have experience with Rörvikshus? Are the construction costs justified?
Best regards,
Dennis-USA

At Baufritz, under "Building Styles," there is a category called "New England." Maybe you’ll find something there? They are located in the south, anyway...
They are certainly not the cheapest option, but their designs are fully customizable (with your own architect or one affiliated with Baufritz), pricing is transparent, and even the standard specifications are very high quality.

Myrna_Loy18 Mar 2022 10:19If you really want it to look good—and not like a poor imitation by someone who only knows houses from stories—I would recommend designing freely with an architect. Timber frame construction is not complicated, but the detailed planning, such as window dimensions or the sizes of the facade cladding and roofing materials, is what determines whether it looks good or appears forced and unskilled.

It should be built in the New England styleThere is no single New England style. 🙂 I assume you mean something like Cape Cod, Shaker, or Colonial? So symmetrical design with wood cladding? And a porch/veranda?
