I have a question.
There are still various small jobs needed in our house.
For example, two doors in the house should no longer open inward but instead open outward in the future.
I want to be fair to the tradespeople. Do you think it’s acceptable to contact several carpenters to have them look at the job? In the end, just choosing the one who charges the least... The others would have only travel costs and no contract. I always feel a bit guilty about that...
I’d like to know how you handle this... Because sometimes you get very different quotes from different tradespeople regarding prices...
Thanks 😉

You still have a lot to learn... ;-)
As a general rule (!), I would try to get several quotes and, beyond that, negotiate.
Beforehand, you might want to ask if there is a charge for the travel to the site visit, in case it is really necessary. If it’s all just minor jobs that are unattractive for the tradespeople and even getting a single quote is difficult, you will probably notice that. 🙂

Given the current workload, no one will come out for something like this. The question is whether you can remove the frame or not; if not, you'll need a new door. Usually, this can be resolved with photos and a phone call, and you can ask 2-3 people. Depending on where you live, you might be lucky to find anyone at all for this. If you're not completely inexperienced, you can do it yourself.
Fortunately, they all use "modern" methods, meaning I send an email with photos and ask for a rough price estimate...
I contact 1-3 companies, depending on the project.
The carpenter for our living room was recommended to us, so I didn’t compare prices at all (meaning I went to a furniture store and checked what similar items might cost).
