Hello everyone!
After unsuccessfully asking my question in an LED forum, I’m now trying my luck here 🙂
We want to install some mostly decorative lighting with LED strips in our new house (for example, we have two wall niches we want to illuminate). We are currently working on the electrical installation BEFORE the interior plastering.
When I search for aluminum profiles for embedding LED strips, I only find ones for LED strips about 10 to 12mm (0.4 to 0.5 inches) wide at most. The “problem” is that we received some LED strips from an acquaintance that would be very practical to use, including some RGB strips that have this kind of plastic casing all around (probably waterproof?), and these are about 13 to 15mm (0.5 to 0.6 inches) wide overall.
My question is: Are there embedding profiles or channels for LED strips this wide (the “standard” ones are usually around 10mm (0.4 inches) wide, I believe)? Or should such plastic-coated LED strips generally not be used in embedding profiles due to, for example, potential heat issues?
I’ve attached pictures of the strips in case that helps 🙂

Unfortunately, I haven’t really found anything in forums or online about this, probably also because I don’t really know what to search for exactly. Do such wider embedding profiles have a special name? That would at least make my search easier *g*
Regarding things like needing this kind of controller for RGB, I have already gathered some information here, but these embedding profiles remain a big question mark for me… :/
I’d be very grateful for your help!!
Best regards,
Tanja
