Hello!

For our new build, we have the option to upgrade the standard bathroom fittings to higher quality. Unfortunately, we do not have direct contact with the tiler, and we cannot be guaranteed that the grout lines between wall and floor tiles will align perfectly, even if we choose wall and floor tiles from the same manufacturer and of the same size—unless we also use floor tiles on the walls, which would significantly increase the cost. Grout lines offset by 1 cm (0.4 inches) tend to look “off” and unattractive, so the idea is to use different tile formats for the walls and floor from the start.

Given the room size, 45 cm (18 inches) tile length arranged in a 5x6 pattern fits perfectly. For the wall tiles sized 45 x 22.5 cm (18 x 9 inches), the toilet and shower are aligned centrally with the grout lines. If the floor tiles are 60 x 60 cm (24 x 24 inches), this works well with the shower length of 120 cm (47 inches), minimizing grout lines on the floor in that area.

Does this approach seem sound in principle, or are there any concerns? (We still need to select the specific tiles.)

Thank you very much!

PS: Yes, unfortunately no window and no nice niches, but a nice mirror with lighting will be installed later, as well as a tall cabinet to the left of the vanity.

PPS: The standard size without extra charge is 30x30 cm (12x12 inches) for the floor, with only 15x15 cm (6x6 inches) in the shower area and 20x25 cm (8x10 inches, white) for the wall, where only the wall tiles would not be rectified.
