ᐅ Aligning a House on a Plot: North-South or East-West – What to Consider?

Hello everyone, we have a plot of land of 1178 m2 (12682 sq ft). We would like to build in a way that allows for a second house in the future—as an option only, without any concrete plans at this time. We are currently considering four "sketched" layouts. Our current preference is the red option, oriented north-south on the west half of the plot. We believe this would provide good natural light. Alternatively, we are also considering the green option, oriented east-west on the south half. In our opinion, the other two options don’t make much sense. If a second house were added, we would be quite "sandwiched" here.
Any thoughts on this?

Who knows if the children really want to stay in the area, if they even want to build, if one will still live there themselves,... ... or if anyone will be living there at all... currently, everything is uncertain. 😱

Is this some kind of masochism? The customer's wish is their paradise.Perhaps it’s also possible to plan in a way that allows adding a large extension for the grandchildren later on.

You can also plan it this way right from the start. But please not so that the garage is accessed via an offset track (red dotted line) – in my opinion, the subdivided plot would be better served with a hammerhead driveway (green boundary fence). However, this is just a critique of this specific proposal – I still lack the context of the surroundings to properly assess the original question :-(https://www.instagram.com/11antgmxde/

If it is really intended, then that’s how it should be. Still, I would carefully consider which compromises need to be made "in case maybe in 30 years..."
Who knows if the children will actually want to stay in the area, if they even want to build, or if you will still be living there yourself... With that plot of land, I wouldn’t place the house in the middle anyway, in order to have a nice, large garden. So why not think about the best layout?

On the contrary. There is no reason to plan for two houses at all. So why would you want to ruin your plot and house? I am certainly not a fan of suppressing dreams that are two or more generations away. But you can plan for it, as long as you don’t have to accept huge compromises. Let me put it in gaming terms, which you apparently understand: you can give up 59 and still come out ahead.
My suggestion:
It should also be said: 30, 40, or 50 years later, you will have different expectations for your house. This also applies to the evening terrace.

I’ll put it in gamer slang, since that seems to be the language you understand: I can understand having to sell part of the property to financially manage the project. But making compromises for a pipe dream that will most likely never happen? No way.
