Hello everyone,
are there any smart home experts here?
I would like to play an automated message through Alexa on a Ring outdoor camera when motion is detected.
For example, if a person is detected at night, Alexa should say "The premises are alarmed" through the camera's speaker.
I haven’t been able to achieve this using a routine in the Alexa app.
Thank you very much for your help.

Aside from that, such a message actually makes the property more attractive to criminals.

Aside from that, such an announcement actually makes the property more attractive to criminals. The cameras have motion and person detection. So they can accurately notify you when a person approaches. It doesn’t get any more precise than that. Break-ins are happening everywhere nowadays. There is a quick reply feature, but unfortunately only for smart doorbells. I imagine it’s similar to “Bauwatch,” where you get an automatic announcement if someone climbs over the fence.

They are breaking in everywhere by now.No. The statistics don’t support that (they actually show a decrease of nearly 50% since 2016). Almost every second attempted break-in fails. In der Ruine schrieb:

Yes, "simple" property crime still exists, but it is not increasing; rather, it is declining. In our district, we have the highest number of burglaries in the state (due to proximity to the big city, public transport connections, and highway access). The trend is moving elsewhere.
(I have professional expertise in this area)

I could imagine using Macro Droid for that. There are also Alexa skills available.

Apart from that, such an announcement actually makes the property more attractive to criminals. This feature does actually exist, and yes, an animal is usually much smaller than a person.
