Hello, we are building on the edge of a field, and since my wife is a bit cautious, we want to have an alarm system along with the better-quality windows.

We can still order magnetic sensors for the window frames now to avoid having to retrofit them later.

Can you recommend a system that is very easy to use and works well?

Next week, I will receive offers from Telenot and Jablotron.

Thanks for your help

We are currently building as well and have chosen Lupus. The system combines alarm and smart home functionalities. How well it works, I obviously cannot say yet.

How much extra do the magnetic switches in the windows cost?

I have now decided against using magnetic switches in the windows. The windows would have been delayed due to the change. Additionally, the extra cost would have been significantly higher compared to the wireless option.
70 euros per sash plus tax plus electrician fees.
I have now chosen JABLOTRON because they can hide the magnetic switches invisibly inside the windows. That was important to me.
And at around 4,000 euros, it’s really fair.

I’m currently browsing this forum and don’t want to miss the chance to share my humble opinion, as I’m also working on my alarm system at the moment.
Keep in mind that all magnetic contacts, glass break sensors, mushroom head locks, etc., can certainly deter an intruder from continuing the break-in, but damage that requires repair has already happened.
As a small suggestion—there are affordable light barriers that can trigger an alarm as soon as the intruder steps onto the property, even before they use their crowbar.
The light barrier can activate optical and acoustic signals. If the light beam is placed at 1 meter (3 feet) height, it won’t be triggered by a cat anymore.
Unfortunately, PIR detectors often cause false alarms by detecting dogs, cats, or other warm bodies.
The new smart solutions with cameras and image transmission sound great, but if the intruder is already inside, I don’t find it reassuring to potentially have to communicate with them!
There is also a very affordable radar solution available lately, but it’s mostly interesting for electronics specialists since it’s a kit. If anyone is interested, I’m happy to share more details.
Best regards and I hope none of us ever has to experience this in practice.
