Hello, have you installed an alarm system in your single-family home? If so, is it a wireless system or wired? What costs should one expect for each option? What experiences do you have? Mechanical protection (RC 2/ RC 2n) for windows and doors is planned.

Wired with KNX... not exactly a "true" AA but sufficient.

To the KNX community here: do you use only an exterior shell monitoring system, meaning window contacts, or do you combine that with motion detectors that monitor rooms for movement when no one is present?

I’m not quite sure about this part of the planning yet, as I actually want to keep the number of presence/motion detectors low...

There are different ways to approach this, as usual. We have cats, so motion detector monitoring is not ideal. Therefore, only the building envelope is monitored, along with the cameras.

A positive side effect: besides simulating occupancy, the cats occasionally turn the lights on and off through the motion detectors.
