Hello,

I am currently planning a single-family house, and the heating system will be an air-to-water heat pump. My installer has had good experience with Dimplex and therefore recommended their products. After some research on heat pumps, I feel that "modern" air-to-water heat pumps should have an inverter to modulate output and thus operate more efficiently. Is that generally correct?

The Dimplex System M heat pumps, specifically the Plus models (e.g., System M Compact Plus), include an inverter, but the marketing brochures always mention "including inverter technology for short-term power boosts." I am a bit confused about how the inverter works in this heat pump. Does it modulate power continuously for efficient operation over time, or is it only for short bursts of increased power?

Good luck
