unequa13Hello everyone,
We are planning to build a single-family house next year with about 160-170 sqm (1700-1830 sq ft), without a basement. It will have underfloor heating and an open living area. A fireplace is not planned. We want to install an air-to-water heat pump.
I would prefer a monoblock system since no refrigerant certificate is required for maintenance. Our utility room is planned to be large enough to fit a monoblock, but I would like to benefit from your experiences. Even if some of you have a split system, we haven’t completely ruled that out yet. There are now also combination units with indoor and outdoor components that can be maintained without a refrigerant license.
Here are my questions:
- Which air-to-water heat pump do you have?
- How long has it been in operation?
- Do you also have a fireplace or another heating option? (If yes, would you manage without it?)
- Have you ever needed to use the electric heating element?
- What is your annual electricity consumption for the heat pump?
- Have you encountered problems with very cold outdoor temperatures? (Electric heater, etc.)
- How "loud" is your heat pump? (Have there been any issues with neighbors because of noise? Or is it too loud for you?)
- Why did you choose your heat pump, and would you make the same choice now?
As you can see, I basically want to know everything you can share. I really appreciate any information!
Best regards!

Hello,
I’m aware of that, and I’ve been a quiet reader here for quite some time because of it. However, it’s quite tedious to gather all the information and user experiences for each device individually, especially since not everything is always mentioned. So I thought maybe someone could provide me with a brief summary of information, possibly including what I should pay attention to.
What advice would you give me, or what would someone with their current knowledge no longer do… and so on. All combined into one thread. It would probably be helpful for other beginners as well.
Or does a collection thread like this already exist, and I’ve just missed it?
