Hello everyone,
I’m looking to get a new split air conditioning unit. My current one has been broken for 2 years now, and apparently the ship carrying spare parts from China sank. In any case, it’s unlikely that a repair will be possible.
Since this unit has broken down more often than it worked, and I would be stuck with the costs if something else goes wrong again, I’m considering a replacement but I don’t want to deal with the same hassle as before. So either a reliable warranty or just the cheapest unit possible that I can throw away after about 2 years.

Of course, I would prefer a decent device with a warranty. So far, my favorite was Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. But I can’t find any clear information about warranties in the product descriptions or through Google searches.
So far, I have only found Midea/Comfee, which offers 3 years. However, that is a more "budget" brand.

Or shouldn’t the 5-year statutory warranty provided by the installer apply when installing a split air conditioning system? I bought my current unit at a wholesale retailer and had it installed by a specialized company.
However, the defect seems to be caused by a power surge (very likely). The fire insurance would want to look into this, but without spare parts that doesn’t help much. And the statutory warranty does not cover damages that occur during regular use, right?

If anyone has manufacturer recommendations or other advice, I’d be happy to hear them 🙂
