Hello,
I wanted to order 3 windows online – just in time. We don’t need anything high-end – the windows are for the new workshop. It is insulated but doesn’t even have heating.
We want double-glazed windows sized 160 x 90 cm (63 x 35 inches). Now I’m looking for a supplier who offers solid quality (so no junk) but affordable windows. Does anyone have a tip where to order very cheaply?

Double casement windows are always really expensive. On one of the shops (fensterversand), you can see during configuration which small click (e.g., selecting double casement) drives the price up, as it updates in real-time. Fixed glazing is the best option… it also ensures better burglary protection if you don’t necessarily need to open the window. Tilt-and-turn windows add a significant extra cost again. I once looked for the laundry room, which is only 7m² (75 sq ft), and for ventilation, it’s enough for me to leave the door (slightly) open while I’m inside. That might be something to consider.

It might be worth considering.I would evaluate the laundry room differently since it involves drying air, potential spills, and so on. But basically, I agree with you. We are planning a ventilation system and will definitely adjust our window selection accordingly. However, in the upper floor, this might be difficult to maintain because there needs to be a way to access the windows with a ladder (second escape route), and you also have to be able to clean the windows somehow. A mechanical ventilation system does not fully replace occasional manual ventilation.

Well, at every hardware store here you can find ready-made windows in standard sizes. Another option is to search online for window delivery services. You can usually find what you need. Whether these windows are better or worse than those from a local carpenter, I don’t know. I got my windows from a local window manufacturer and didn’t even receive handles. Also, the water drainage caps and hinge covers were missing, and they were installed strangely (they protrude 2 cm (about 0.8 inches) into the room instead of being flush with the window reveal, and the old windowsill was simply left in place, meaning the new window was just set on top and done). So, it’s questionable whether a local specialist is always better. And you accepted this as is???
