Hello everyone,

We are currently planning our single-family house. One thing is certain: we will use traditional Poroton masonry with an exterior insulation layer of about 16cm (6 inches).

What bothers me particularly is the plaster that is planned as the standard exterior finish, for the following reasons:

- it is fire-prone
- it can be easily dented (by footballs, etc.)
- it needs to be repainted from time to time
- it doesn’t look good (in my opinion)

Of course, I have looked around a bit and would prefer to use brick cladding (at least partially), but that is very expensive. I should also mention that we are building on an existing basement, and because of the boundaries with the neighbor, we cannot extend much beyond the current footprint.

What other attractive and affordable alternatives are there?
We can also imagine partial cladding with wood, stone, or zinc sheets, but the question is how such solutions can be implemented and what the costs would be.
