Wugler197826 Apr 2019 20:15I’ll keep it short and simple. We are currently deciding between Ytong 36.5cm (14.4 inches) monolithic construction and sand-lime brick with an external thermal insulation composite system (ETICS) made of polystyrene, but we can’t decide which to choose.
Ytong is 11,000 euros more expensive, but we have a "bad feeling" about the insulation in the sand-lime brick option (use of pesticides, etc.).
What would you do and why?

I would choose sand-lime brick with external thermal insulation (ETICS) if I were sensitive to noise, as it provides very good soundproofing. However, in that case, a ventilation system is definitely necessary.
When I think about the environment and healthy living conditions, that wouldn’t really be my choice at all...

Yes, but this is already manageable with external wall insulation systems (ETICS). Millions of people live with them and also have mailboxes...
Are you sure that Ytong is more expensive? I always thought it was the cheapest construction method. I really can’t imagine that—you should ask again.
Nordlys has Ytong (-:

Nordlys uses Ytong (-: I also thought Ytong was cheaper and was surprised when I saw the quotes. Maybe it depends on the federal state of Bavaria?
