Hello

I would be interested in some advice regarding exterior plaster for aerated concrete.

What would you recommend? Which materials and what application order?

The plasterer is asking me more than three times the price per square meter compared to interior plastering. Could that be correct?

I prefer a fairly smooth finish. I'm not really a fan of rough plasters.

I hope you have some tips for me or some recommendations on which materials to use.

That makes sense – on the inside, you don’t have to worry about wind-driven rain resistance and similar issues, so the material requirements on the exterior are somewhat different. Otherwise: use a sealed system where all components are coordinated, and have a professional with experience in these materials handle it. DIY usually isn’t cost-effective here.

Best regards,
I.

It’s about the labor, not the material.

If the material is more expensive, that wouldn’t be a problem, but I don’t think it’s fair to pay more than three times the labor cost for the same work.

He wants to first prime the house, then apply a cement render, and afterwards install the facade. At least that’s how I understood it.

Online, I read that aerated concrete can be rendered more easily or in a different way.

The work is also somewhat different... Base plaster, reinforcement, finish plaster, and depending on the system, applied in several layers – it’s definitely not the same kind of work.
By the way, on the websites of a major aerated concrete manufacturer, you can find plastering recommendations (just try searching on Google) – this can help you estimate the amount of work involved.

A scaffold will probably need to be erected outside. Inside, this was most likely not the case.
