Good morning,
We are watching American renovation shows again. I keep noticing that in the US, roofing tiles like the ones used here are not common; instead, asphalt shingles are used. This made me wonder why they are not also used in Germany.
From what I found on Google so far, asphalt shingles are cheaper and lighter but have a shorter lifespan (25–35 years). How long does a "classic" roof last? They are also said to be quieter in the rain.
I am also wondering if photovoltaic panels can be mounted on them. Would the protection possibly extend their durability?
