Hello everyone,

Do you have an approximate idea of how much more expensive the installation of a wall heating system for 1-2 rooms in a single-family house is compared to underfloor heating (per m² (per sq ft))?
How is the screed handled with vertical installation? Given the circumstances, I assume that wall heating is somewhat more expensive than underfloor heating (mainly due to higher labor costs because of the vertical installation, or are the material costs also significantly higher?).

Of course, it is important not to place large furniture in front of the wall later, and it should be avoided to drill anchors or holes into the wall.

Thank you very much for your assessment of the additional costs.

Best regards

Anyway, I personally prefer a heat source with a high infrared radiation component over all the low-temperature systems or forced air systems. It’s not just a matter of cost but also comfort. That’s why it’s worth considering infrared wall heating.

But that would be in the form of a "radiator," right? Because if it’s concealed, you can only install a surface heating system. And I find underfloor heating to be very comfortable.

Regarding the additional costs: I have a wall heating system in the gallery, and the main cost driver was not the plumbing but the plasterer. A large area was covered with a two-layer lime-gypsum plaster reinforced with mesh. It had to be applied in two separate stages. Attaching the heating coil to the wall was not the issue.

The thread title was misleading overall. It says "wall heating instead of underfloor heating," but according to the first post, this only applies to some rooms. Hence my comment about incompatibility.

If it is "only" about adding a bit more heating surface in addition to the underfloor heating, then that is completely unproblematic.

Yes, originally it was correctly understood that there should be no underfloor heating in one room, but instead a wall heating system. Then the topic came up that in bathrooms, a wall heating system is often installed in addition to the underfloor heating. The suggestion to use an infrared heater was also helpful.

Everything is clarified now. Thanks to everyone.
