Hello everyone,
For our planning, we initially estimated €120 per month for utilities, €25 for property tax, and €160 for electricity.
So far, the costs have been:
€110 electricity installment (including heating and domestic hot water)
€14 waste disposal
€32 water and sewage
Property tax is still pending – what other costs should we expect?

I already wrote this in another thread, but here it is again 🙂
€418 property tax
€197 wastewater (73 m³ (96 yd³))
€120 fresh water
€708 internet 100 Mbps
€600 for gas
€780 for electricity (3500 kWh (11,830 kBTU))
€139 waste disposal (including large black bin, organic, paper, yellow bin)
€261 building insurance including natural hazards
€216 household insurance
€110 chimney sweep for gas and fireplace
€210 broadcasting fee
That adds up to about €320 per month. The internet cost could be reduced after 2 years, we use significantly less electricity than estimated, and the household insurance could be much cheaper with a different provider. The broadcasting fee could definitely be abolished. With quite a bit of effort, you might save around €30 per month here. Surprisingly, heating itself only accounts for about one-sixth of the total costs. Some things are really reasonably priced for the service provided (for example, waste disposal), while others feel like a rip-off (for example, property tax – why did I pay over €50,000 during the construction of the building? Why property tax at purchase? / income tax etc...).

While the property transfer tax is charged on the sale (similar to sales tax), property tax is based on ownership (like the former wealth tax or dog tax). As far as I know, the property transfer tax goes to the state, and property tax to the municipality. That’s just how it is... and you probably won’t be able to change it.
Somewhere along the line, everyone indirectly benefits from the taxes collected (road construction, daycare centers, schools, etc.).
You also forgot caretakers, gardeners, domestic help, winter services, window cleaners, and so on. 😉

Today, we actually got a quote from the window cleaner.
In April, he will come for a thorough cleaning (so far, only a cleaning before moving in has been done), including the front door and garage door.
If the quality is good, he will then be allowed to come 2-3 times a year in the future 😀

I always thought it was worth spending 10,000€ more compared to gas?Our energy consultant actually claimed the opposite. His opinion is that if a gas connection is already available on the property, "go with gas" 😀
The great thing about gas and air-source heat pumps is that both operate very closely in terms of efficiency, and both systems now work at a very high level. If you don’t have gas supply available on your street, you don’t have to rely on outdated oil tanks in the garden but can instead choose a modern, mature, and equivalent technology. I think that’s a positive development!
