Hello everyone,

For our planning, we initially estimated €120 per month for utilities, €25 for property tax, and €160 for electricity.

So far, the costs have been:
€110 electricity installment (including heating and domestic hot water)
€14 waste disposal
€32 water and sewage

Property tax is still pending – what other costs should we expect?

Stormwater drainage (Hessen) costs us 5 € per quarter.

Reserves 1 € per square meter (sqm)
Life insurance for spouse
Building liability insurance
Cable (?)
Chimney sweep (we have a fireplace)

Thank you.

Chimney sweeping is not required because of the brine-to-water heat pump.
Reserves are clear, but we hadn’t specified it so explicitly before.
We are still undecided about the term life insurance.
Building liability? We have building insurance.
We have budgeted for telephone/TV separately as an item.

Are natural disaster damages included? Reserve funds of one euro per m² (10.8 sq ft)? We probably won’t do that...

Maybe around a hundred euros per month.

Only 110 euros for heating and electricity? I envy you.

I just thought of the mandatory broadcasting fee as well.

The electricity topic is now interesting to me as well.

I have some experience from acquaintances where just heating and domestic hot water costs around 1,000€ (about $1,100). On top of that, there is another 800€ (about $880) for household electricity.

What is your total living area or heated floor area?

I know some people who currently use only about 550€ (about $610) worth of gas in addition to the 800€ (about $880) for household electricity, which is why gas would be my first choice (for now).
