Hello everyone,
Here is the situation: The house was newly built four years ago. However, the city has not yet constructed a sidewalk and is currently catching up on this. Now, it is suddenly planned to install a streetlight in front of my carport (albeit at the edge).
A brief explanation of the diagram: Green = street. Teal = an example of a mid-sized car. Yellow = the newly planned sidewalk. Orange = the newly planned streetlight. Blue = driveway to the carport (I extended it for clarity, all to scale and proportion).
Is there a regional regulation (NRW) that governs this situation given the angle xyz and a single-lane roadway? In my opinion, the streetlight is a design error that complicates or obstructs my driveway access to the carport.
Best regards

By the way, I’m not quite able to piece together the timeline – so they said on Monday that it would be relocated. So the orange Oift was already there then. Or was it only installed a day later?

Meister_Bob4 Sep 2024 19:33@Nida35a Absolutely right! I am currently reading up on the guidelines for design vehicles. The keyword is EAR 05 (although obsolete regarding only stationary traffic) and RBSV 2020.
@Jesse Custer The wall can stay there; it belongs to the neighbor’s house. It is just a roadway after all... On Monday, the city official acknowledged that it wouldn’t work and asked the construction workers if it could be shifted by 30cm (12 inches). On Tuesday, he withdrew his "offer." Reason: It costs money and I could still drive into it.

Did he say how much it would cost extra? I would suggest offering to cover the additional costs and then that would settle it...

Did he say how much the extra cost would be? I would offer to cover the additional expenses and that would settle it... I asked a worker on site today: About one person-day; but he didn’t want or wasn’t able to say how much that would cost. The city now wants to cut away 50 cm (20 inches) of the wall on the other side (right). In my opinion, that doesn’t help me at all. I have an appointment at the building authority next week.Similar topics
