ᐅ A Nuki smart lock on the front door can be convenient.

I don’t consider myself a smart home enthusiast, but I bought the Nuki 3.0 Pro because my wife and I really like the “phone in pocket, door unlocks” feature with my “new” Tesla (since last September). After a few software setup issues, which are now resolved, it works quite well.
I’m curious if others here are interested as well.
The note I want to make concerns the most important feature for me: the door should open automatically when I’m standing in front of it. This only works with this lock if I have been far enough away in between—and that means more than just a few meters (yards). Approaching the door with my hands full of luggage and having it unlock automatically is simply great. Unfortunately, just going next door isn’t enough. The neighboring houses are too close, and the Nuki doesn’t recognize that I was away. But after going shopping, it works 😀

One possible solution could be a programming feature, such as an additional button combination like pressing the button three times before leaving, so that Nuki automatically unlocks again when reconnecting to the Bluetooth device (after taking out the trash), even without leaving the geofence.
Hmm, as I write this, I have to say the idea is actually great 😎. Why didn’t I think of this earlier and suggest it to Nuki Support long ago...
(The only downside is if your partner walks by with their smartphone at that moment, although you could still pull out your phone then. Or Nuki could remember the paired/connected phone that was present when pressing the button three times...) Endless ideas 😀.

To also share a slightly more critical opinion about Nuki. I was almost overjoyed when I heard there would be a Nuki Smart Door version... I was really looking forward to having it integrated into the front door of my new build.
I knew it would be more expensive, but since yesterday I’ve realized it’s just not for me, because at some point it stops being worthwhile... The hardware alone costs €1,999 (about $2,150) at Nuki, and that doesn’t even include installation. The partner network in my area is quite limited; the closest partner is far away and “only” a joinery that doesn’t even offer doors themselves (at least according to their website). I need to call and find out how the process works, but having to bring the door there and then pick it up again seems inconvenient. I had hoped they would cooperate with well-known door manufacturers, so the effort and cost would be manageable...
Furthermore, according to Nuki’s website, it only works with wooden doors. At a reasonable price, I might even consider switching, but ideally, I would want an aluminum door.

A while ago...
The Nuki lock was generally enjoyable to use.
Sometimes the unlocking function didn’t work, and the phone had to be taken out of the pocket to operate the app. That’s annoying but not a big problem.
Recently, the Nuki started indicating that the motor (of the device itself) was blocked.
It took a while for us to figure out that it seems to be broken.
Apparently, it needs to be replaced. A repair option was not offered—instead, a discount of initially 10%... then 15%.
The latest generations are "sleeker" than what we have… ours has a bulky, square box under the cylinder, which the new model doesn’t.
I opened the device (a few small Phillips screws) and got the impression that the motor and all electrical connections could be easily replaced.
Because I’m tired of all the programming and don’t want any more Nuki problems—and I prefer it without the bulky box underneath (a really minor detail)—I ordered a new, current model.
My conclusion: somewhat disappointed with the service (no repair option and confusing troubleshooting and instructions), but I still enjoy using it so much that we spent another €230 on it.

So, our latest generation Nuki has been running for a year now, with only one failure so far—battery drained without us noticing. However, the notifications were turned off because the status blinking was annoying.
Other than that, if your fingers are wet, the touchpad doesn’t work—didn’t realize this until after a snowball fight. Fortunately, there is the keypad. What’s annoying there, though, is that the zero is missing.
We would definitely buy it again if this one ever breaks, probably the same model.
The previous version is now available for under 150 euros with a touchpad.

when fingers are wet, the touchpad does not workWhat I know of is a so-called Nuki "keypad" that hangs next to the door and allows you to open it instead of using the phone, but a touchpad?
