ᐅ Dishwashers with 45 cm and 60 cm widths and the common issues with their front panels

schraubeHello everyone,
I have been planning an IKEA kitchen for 4 weeks now and keep running into problems due to limited space. I just registered here and would like to ask a few questions. The forum search only helped me somewhat regarding 24-inch (60cm) dishwashers, but the 18-inch (45cm) dishwasher issue still remains.
So, here are my questions:
1. I want to fit a 18-inch (45cm) IKEA dishwasher with a Ringhult front panel (red high gloss). Is this possible? Maybe with some DIY modifications?
2. Is it possible to install a 18-inch (45cm) non-IKEA dishwasher? If yes, can it also be fitted with a RINGHULT front? Semi-integrated preferred, but fully integrated is also an option.
3. Same as question 2, but with a 24-inch (60cm) dishwasher?
4. Will there be any issues if the dishwasher is placed at the end of the kitchen run? I read something about attaching the fronts to adjacent cabinets using screws. Does this also apply to semi-integrated dishwashers?
That’s all for now. Looking forward to your answers.

I ran into the exact same issue that you described: My partner and I had very limited space available and, partly because it is just the two of us, we decided on a 45cm (18 inches) dishwasher from IKEA. The disappointment came when we found out there were only two fronts available: high-gloss white and one with a stainless steel look. We both found this hard to believe, so we checked again directly at the store. Unfortunately, the information in the 3D kitchen planner matched the actual offer... A custom size is not possible at IKEA. We were also strongly advised against ordering a 60cm (24 inches) front and cutting it down ourselves with a circular saw. The reason is, of course, the moisture that would affect the cut side and damage the front within a short time.
We originally wanted a matte white front but ended up choosing the white high-gloss front due to this issue—and we are very happy with it.
So you might consider giving up the custom size to realize your wish for a red kitchen. However, there are also some very nice example kitchens in the stores that use multiple fronts (maybe white fronts for the base cabinets and red for the wall cabinets?).
Best regards and good luck with your planning!
Annika

IKEA-Experte29 Oct 2014 20:48Hello,
Annika has already covered everything about 45 cm (18 inches).
With 60 cm (24 inches), there are more options. If the dishwasher is placed at the end of a row, a support panel for the countertop must be installed. This panel can possibly also serve as a mounting point for parts of the hardware. You could only do without a side panel if there is a wall next to the dishwasher, where a support strip, for example, can be attached.
When installing a third-party appliance, it would be advantageous if it allows for the direct installation of 80 cm (31.5 inches) high fronts (some models from Miele and some from Siemens/Bosch/Neff with variable hinges).

Hello to both of you. Thank you very much for your replies!
I was at IKEA today and got some explanations, but I forgot to ask a few things.
Am I correct in assuming that for a third-party 45cm (18 inches) or 60cm (24 inches) dishwasher, I basically only need to make sure it is leveled properly? For a semi-integrated dishwasher, I don’t have to worry about any hinges either. I just need to make sure to get a front panel from IKEA that fits. Are there fronts at IKEA that would fit semi-integrated models? Are my observations correct?
Oh, and could someone tell me the hole spacings of the METOD kitchens? I forgot to measure.
Thank you very much!

miss-marple31 Oct 2014 08:46Hello,
With Miele, as well as Bosch, Siemens, and Neff, you can view the installation and assembly manuals for every appliance. Just select a device and go to Download. The required height for the panels is also specified there.
Regarding the 45cm (18 inch) dishwasher: If you can manage to create the space, a 60cm (24 inch) dishwasher is usually the more cost-effective option.
If you don’t load everything into the dishwasher and tend to wash large items, pots, and pans by hand, a modular dishwasher from BSH could also be an option. It can be installed in a tall cabinet or base cabinet and fitted with a 60x60cm (24x24 inch) front panel.
Best regards
One personal opinion: red and stainless steel actually match quite well on the front panels. For those who prefer a country-style design, there can be a bigger visual challenge with IKEA if there isn’t enough space for a 60cm (24 inch) machine.
