Hello everyone,
I’d like to ask for your professional opinion again!
My new build is finally completed, and I had the plasterer on site plaster the inside of one door frame (just the interior part where the frame would normally sit). There is no door frame installed there because it is supposed to be an open passageway. It’s a standard-sized opening, no custom dimensions.
The plasterer now sent me a bill for 4 skilled worker hours — that seems a bit high to me. It’s not really about the amount but the principle, as I’ve already felt taken advantage of several times during this build, including by this plasterer.
What do you think? Is this a realistic charge?
Thanks in advance! 🙂

I agree with both previous speakers: two hours if it is a separately listed but completed together item, four hours if a separate trip is made specifically for this. That means I would consider an appropriate range to be between a minimum of 2 hours without and a maximum of 4 hours including setup time.

that's half a day gone
Have you plastered or painted yourself before? Masking everything off, and so on
And always remember to ask beforehand about the approximate cost

For standard doors: For a single job where the tradesperson comes just for that one door, that’s fine. If it were 10 doors, I would consider 4 hours per door too much.
