ᐅ Three years since completion – still haven’t found a ceiling light for the kitchen!

We’re probably a bit crazy. We can’t find a ceiling light that both of us like for the kitchen. But all the options out there are just terrible. We definitely don’t want those damn LEDs. So that rules out 50% of the lights right away.
Then we need a lot of light, at least 3000 lumens. We both have poor eyesight. That cuts out another 30% because these days lights don’t seem to be meant for actual illumination anymore.

That leaves only 20% that we simply don’t like or that are too expensive (over 500€). It’s so frustrating. Does anyone know a lighting store that doesn’t just sell the usual generic stuff but offers something different?

Feel free to share pictures of the lights you have, if you want. Maybe we’ll like some of those too. 🙁

There are now battery-powered Christmas lights...
@Nordlys
... none at all anywhere?

Yes, in the hallway. In the living room. On the terrace, there is lighting everywhere. Only at the front door, there is just a wreath hanging on the house number.
Unfortunately, the power outlet is only on the terrace and in the garage. It was simply forgotten during planning.

We don’t have any at the front either. Apparently, that’s normal, from what I’ve read.
Luckily, we have some in the garage for the “front lights.”

I am responsible for decorative lighting – but none is planned in front of the house either. Lighting is inside at the bathroom window and for the house number. That’s enough. The garden is lit where I can see it from the living area. So, there is rather little in front of the house. And I definitely won’t put anything there just so the neighbors have a nice view.

Oh wow. Party pooper. 😉

I like the lights, and all our neighbors decorate their fir trees outside. My star is up now. My dear electrician even planned an outdoor outlet for it. It’s controlled from inside by a timer switch. Isn’t he sweet for me and my star? 🙂

We have a lot in front of the house: in the front garden there is the house tree and two spherical shrubs, and on either side of the entrance there are boxwoods and a small cypress.

I really enjoy coming home and appreciate that, and since our hallway is open, you can see the string lights through the door 🙂
Unfortunately, we now close off the garden after dark 🙁
