Hello
I would like to ask if it is possible to build a bungalow with a living area of 130 m² (1,400 sq ft) and a double carport on a 600 m² (6,460 sq ft) plot of land, while still having some lawn area left. Or is that rather unsuitable? The dimensions are 25 x 25 meters (82 x 82 feet), but one corner is slightly cut off, so it’s not a full 25 x 25 meters.
We don’t need a vegetable or herb garden; we just want some lawn space for my nieces to play and sunbathe.

Thanks for any advice.

Best regards

One option would be to place the entrance next to the carport and then move the parents' bathroom and bedroom to the right corner... Alternatively, the parents' bedroom could be in the bottom right, with the bathroom above it and the children's room above that. The kitchen would shift to the left, next to the utility room, and the utility room would be located to the north, directly next to the entrance. The office/guest room would then be on the top floor on the south side.

The attic space is reserved for the junior later on. The children’s room was moved upstairs because we wanted the child to have the mostly naturally lit room, and we don’t really need that much light in the master bedroom ..
.

No one advised you to swap the children’s room with the bedroom. I also considered rotating the utility room, office, and children’s room, or swapping the office and children’s room. The remaining spaces and dimensions would of course need to be adjusted accordingly.

But having the bathroom in the corner like that isn’t ideal either… The utility room could go there instead…

Except for the living room, you can rotate everything else… Even the living room could shift to the right wall, displacing the children’s room. Then the office/guest room could move to the top left corner.

I would actually find the entrance next to the carport/garage more optimal…

Furthermore, I generally prefer a straight staircase going up, but that would be about 4 meters (13 feet) long, right? That means 1-2 steps would probably extend into the living room, but that is just under the ceiling. With a corner staircase, there are always issues carrying things upstairs, but it takes up less space. However, good or clever storage options can also be created under a straight staircase.

Do you think this floor plan can be built on? In terms of dimensions? Or should it be completely discarded?

We requested another rough draft that places the entrance on the north side next to the carport. For this, we drew the rooms to scale and cut them out so we could physically rearrange them. Of course, the dimensions might change slightly. We’re definitely realizing that we are not architects—grrr. However, we want to do our best to support the architect by providing our own layout ideas. Or should we just let them continue working first and only describe what we have in mind along the way?

So, four rooms plus stairs—I definitely think ours is clearly better than your architect’s. Take a look. K.
Ground floor plan: living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, hallway, stairs, and garage.

Thank you very much... very clear..
As mentioned, it was a basis for discussion, and we want to make changes. However, I definitely want to avoid a spiral staircase, since part of the attic will be used for storage and the other part facing south will be a kind of studio for the junior when he is older. He can’t even walk yet – grr.
