Good evening everyone,

I would like to cover an 11.5 cm (4.5 inches) load-bearing wall with gypsum fiberboard panels.
My plan is to attach wooden slats to the existing wall, screw the gypsum fiberboard panels onto them, and then fill and wallpaper.
The reason is that I need to install wiring inside this wall, and I have recently learned that it is not allowed to chase channels horizontally into an 11.5 cm (4.5 inches) wall.

My main question: Can I simply install wooden battens in front of the wall and then mount the gypsum fiberboard panels on them? Or would the 2–3 cm (about 1 inch) gap in between eventually cause mold or similar issues?

This works as follows. The 11.5cm (4.5 inches) wall will not be an external wall.

Correct. But unfortunately the interior wall is load-bearing 😉
Thank you

You probably want to use drywall panels and electrical wiring in "smart mode on," which works well as described. If you also want to improve the poor sound insulation of your 11.5cm (4.5 inches) wall, you can achieve this by installing a separate drywall partition in front of the existing wall using suitable profiles.

I have to agree with you... Of course, it will be drywall panels and electrical wiring 😉
I had already read about the detached wall. However, every millimeter (every inch) counts in this room 😉
