Hello,

a friend of mine is currently renovating and mentioned that he wants to convert his house into a 1-liter house. What exactly does that mean, and is it even possible to do something like that afterward?

Hello Franz,

Unfortunately, I don’t have personal experience, but acquaintances of ours are currently building a 1-liter house. The planning was quite complex since insulation and ventilation are absolutely crucial to minimize energy loss, as this is the only way the 1-liter house system can work. However, I think it is a good investment for the future, especially considering that prices for oil, gas, and electricity keep rising.

Best regards,
Karin

Turning a conventional house into a 1-liter house is indeed possible but very complex and costly. However, the energy consumption is truly very low, and in the long run, it is worthwhile.

Hello,

thanks for your answers. I got a quote for a renovation. Well, the 1-liter house concept is nice and all, but considering my age, the renovation doesn’t make much sense for me. The savings would probably benefit my children if they keep the house.

Hello everyone,

I would like to add the following to this discussion: about one third of the total energy demand is used for heating buildings. Many people often talk about the 3-liter car – but the huge savings that a passive house offers are hardly noticed.
